Sensitive Kashmir

“Agar firdous baroye zameen ast, hami asto, hami asto hami ast” – Amir-e-Khusru Dehluvi The paradise was lost in silt. The houses-streets-green was covered in mud. Dust in the air, broken barriers and bridges were the plight of the state. The flood news spread like fire, Media, gave all its attention and environmentalist, speculation was screaming on the screen. Film fraternities took charge and raised funds. One thing was clear that it was huge impairment to the state. 15.27 lakh families affected in 5794 villages, claimed 282 lives, 90,000 livestock and crops on 6.48 lakh hectares was vanished. The cabinet assured Rs. 44,000/- crores. Uttrakhand flood smashed the state, it was in news, and soon faded away. The displacement and loss in Bihar and Orissa flood was irrevocable. So, what made J&K flood so different? The answer is J&K was politicize, the insecurity of the nation that the Awaam (People) will ask for Azadi (Separation). The world’s super power was closely watching the reaction of India’s neighbor. Army claimed that they have rescued 184,000 people, soon the facts were out and the number was flaunted to make army as heroes. Kashmir flood was not just natural but man-made as well. According to Zubair A Dar, a US doctoral scholar on water policy and management in the Indus basin shared that the larger reason for frequent floods, is the unresolved Kashmir dispute, which has brought out deficiencies in the Indus Water Treaty (IWT), which prohibits J&K from building dams with water storage upstream. The construction of building larger dams and storage is not helping Pakistan from floods upstream. But the main reason for the logjam over the IWT is that Pakistan fears India will up the ante during a conflict through “strategic wartime usage” of dams and storage, which can cripple it because it depends on the Jhelum, Chenab, and Indus for nearly 77% of its water requirement. At one hand people were criticizing about the inefficiency of the Government to reach out to them on the other hand many aggressively reacted towards the distribution and didn’t accept it. Kashmir is an economically stable when it’s compared with states like Orissa and North-east which face floods every year. Any disaster does affect the state but, the way J&K received response across raised question. It is national chauvinism and the politicking over Jammu and Kashmir that is an overriding factor.

IT MEANS A LOT

Tiny things which means a lot
A call from old friend and s/he bashing you for not being in contact........
Slam book filled in 10th standard.........
Walking alone on the street and dry leaves falling on you........
A night you are chatting with MOON instead of your Buddies on earth.....
Watching a young child playing and talking to themselves.......
Enjoying cartoons instead of breaking news.......
In the morning, during a busy schedule if someone allows you to sleep for extra half an hour........
Taking different route to reach a regular visiting place.........
Try to play with butterfly..........
A SIMPLE CHANGE REJUVENT YOU
... LETS ALL OF US TRY this to make our life more happy...........

The Neo classical Theory

Neo Classical: Under the banner of Neo classicalism we have changed and introduce so many policies. Neo classical theory assume lot many things like, it considered government involvement as a intervention in public life, free market policies, applies mechanic formula for the growth of human societies, considered that everyone is capable of growing on its own, disregard which class, caste and sex s/he belongs. It portrays each individual – worker, land-owner, and industrialist – as possessing some resource: land, capital, or labour, which it calls ‘factors of production’. The worker hires out his labour; the landowner rents out his land; the capitalist gives the use of his capital. Each does so for a price (the price of hiring labour is wages; the price of hiring land is rent; and the price of hiring capital is the rate of interest). However the orthodox theory of Neo classical was questioned by economist post 1929 Great depression time, explaining the reason for the sinking of the economy ship, why does the assumption of capitalist failed to understanding the upcoming threat. The insight of these economists undermined the entire structure of neoclassical economics. The discipline of political economy developed in a period of rapid change – the era of the rise of capitalism in Europe. Thus Smith and Ricardo were interested to find the driving force of development. They located it in the production of a surplus over the consumption of the labourer, and the accumulation of the surplus in the form of the growth of productive capacity.
It is unquestionable the path chosen by India to overcome the label of undeveloped i.e. neglecting wants of poor people instead focused on rich peoples desires. India got this as a farewell gift by British. Yesterday we were suffering from Wealth drain by British, today we are facing Brain drain.
Looking at the historical approach of the economy, of neo classical in which supply and demand in all markets simultaneously and instantly arrive at equilibrium unlike in regards to Marx’s which considered economy and society as a process a pattern that follows. Neoclassical theory, as we saw, begins and ends with the market. Classical political economy moves on same ground in the additional aspects of sphere of production and Marx’s focus on Humanitarian as civilized society frame work. Largely in this chapter of Economics as Mechanics, the great deal of discussion rotates around Capitalist agendas of orthodox thinker and Pro Neo classicalist and Marx’s. Neo classical approaches overlook and ignore Humanitarian Aspect and became very Individualistic in Nature, and high light only Individual wants and selfish desire, which actually justify every wrong act, it merely talks of ‘advanced’ and ‘backward’ economies. In its view, the difference between the two is merely quantitative: the backward economy has less capital (for example, less industry).
Still many question were unable to solve, like, why there was a need felt to colonies, Marxists extended this to understand the phenomena of colonialism and its development into latter-day imperialism. With the Marxist approach, we can understand how social institutions like caste, race, and gender developed, and in turn their role in shaping particular patterns of economic development.

India’s Economy and its Growth and fallout $tory

What is that changing in India is indeed a bad question, one must ask what is not changing in India and the simplest answer would be the condition of marginalized section of India?
India’s mixed economy policy is more of capitalist and less of Socialist in nature. India’s economy is not the same as it was some 40 years back and last 2 decade one can see India’s growth. 2003-04 we have seen 8% GDP growth and so inflation. India’s growth is contradictory and one sided that is toward the elites. Acknowledged as the next super power, India is proving to be a tough competitor for China. It is noteworthy that everybody is bringing laurels for this country, which is good. India also became the proud manufacturer of the world’s smallest car sad thing is that we unable to provide house for poor at that rate, and thanks to telecom revolution, Indian villages have gone global. One have to understand and observe various stand taken by India in due course of it economy policy making, from India’s Non- alignment supporter to accepting SEZ’s policy, the debate around Public partnership to various deal across border specially with neighboring country. At that same time not to neglect that current status of India as developing Nation what kind of policy it enforce upon undeveloped country.
The role of oppressed as a oppressor, India was oppressed by colonial and then US and India oppressing South Africa and Bangladesh country.

In the latest Budget speech by our dear Finance Minister he said that, this budget belongs to the ‘Aam Aadmi’. It belongs to the farmer, the agriculturist, the entrepreneur and the investor. The opportunity is great. The time is right. (Pranab Mukherjee, Budget Speech, 2010-11). It’s time to look at dying Bharat and not just shining India

India has given Arthasastra to the world, and then the world learned about Economics, Politics and Administration. The Indian Economy is a explosive story. It is consumption led than export led, growth with democracy, growth with service than manufacturing and entrepreneurial than Government led. Economy transformed from primarily agriculture, forestry and fishing in 1947 to Heavy industries and telecommunications industries in the late 1970s shows India’s Stand at various stage. India will emerge as a SUPERPOWER or not but it will be emerge after suppressing and demolishing the want of its people. Our economy has to answer few important people.
Since 1197 when the statics were 1st recorded 25, 00 farmers have taken their lives in India.
5.7 million Indians have IADS or HIV out of which 40% are women
We have only one doctor for every 1,230 people
We only have one hospital bed for every 74 patients who need one.
Despite of this statistic, the Indian government spends more on defense than it does on health
Our literacy rate is 61% making us the 145th in the world , just above war torn Sudan and just below genocidal Rwanda.
345 million Indians lives under the poverty line.
7.2% of all Indians are unemployed- India comes in at 94th in terms of employments.
So, o end with, In our boundless optimism for India’s future we should not forget the vast sections of society for whom the phrase “ India Shining” is utterly meaningless.

The unsolved and unanswered Kashmir

The unsolved and unanswered Kashmir
My visit to Kashmir in the month of November and my stay there for a month was enough for me to sense what it’s people think…………. It is just like any other rural India.
One comment by a Kashmiri man, that I can never forget was, Rural area of India is suffering from little intervention and less focus of government, Cities are suffering from over attention of Government and we (Kashmiri’s) are suffering from intervention of two countries government, U.S.A and International agencies. But in any case No one is interested to ask the ‘So Called’ local people what we want. They asked question to me, didi , My father is born in Pakistan and My Mother is from India which is our Country……
I remembered, when farhad said, Didi your thinking is wrong, Kashmir and its people are not the way you think….. they are different yet similar……..

India's growth and questions????

What is that changing in India is indeed a bad question, one must ask what is not changing in India and the simplest answer would be the condition of marginalized section of India?

If one can remember when was the Last time that he/she felt proud of our country, it is when we got to know that there is a Growth in India’s GDP or at that time when we heard about decline in welfare scheme.
Hurray!!! Our children will be going to study in International Dhirubhai Ambani’s school or any private school because our government started demolishing public schools. India launches several rural development programs but do you think that it works. Thousand of our small farmers are committing suicide. Are we even bothered that since 1997, as many as 40,000 farmers have committed suicide due to indebtedness? But do we remember something about India’s economy, it can be described in the following line India is Shinning but Bharat is dying.
The health of India is in an equally abysmal shape. This is reflected in persistent malnourishment of children, very slow reduction in infant mortality and maternal mortality. India today allocates lower than one per cent gross domestic product (GDP) to health. According to United Nations calculations, India’s spending on public health as a share of GDP is the 18th lowest in the world.
Religious intolerance, racial slur, caste discrimination and deprivation – all exists in India!

Orissa, in today's context is a one of the most poor state of India. But believe me it's people are rich by there heart. I stayed in Orissa for 10 days for my Rural practicum. I was placed at Rayagad District of Orissa. I spend one of the most precious time there. I MISS ORISSA A LOT. Orissa have beautiful beaches around.
